Borken

(Germany)

The city is located in North Rhine-Westphalia, north of Dortmund and Essen, close to the Dutch border. Borken is the capital of the eponymous district of Borken.

With a population of around 40,000, it is the same size as Whitstable. Founded over 800 years ago, the town is known for its famous towers, which date back to the 14th century and were part of the medieval fortifications.

  • 2017 - Official partnership agreement signed
  • 2022 – Dragon Boat Race

    Participation of the Student Council and Sokol in the 15th Dragon Boat Race.

  • 2022 - Pupil exchange

    1. ZŠ Masarykovo nám. in Říčany welcomed 14 pupils and two teachers from the Maria Sibylla Merian Realschule from the partner city of Borken. The children met again in September, this time during the week-long stay of 14 pupils from the 1st Primary School in Borken.

  • 2023 – Dragon Boat Race

    Dragon Boat Race - Participation of the Student Council and Sokol in the 16th annual Dragon Boat Race. It turned out to be a lovely 3rd place!

The cooperation focuses mainly on education, culture, sport and youth and the exchange of experience in the field of local government.
